Freudian Bites Thanksgiving Iteration: When does a migrant stop being a migrant? Or when does a refugee stop being a refugee?

In this essay, Eden Arts Foundation Curatorial Fellow and Turkish British curator and anthropologist Huma Kabakcı reflects on the Freudian Bites Thanksgiving edition, using the supper club as a research led curatorial format to question how categories such as migrant, immigrant, and refugee shape narratives of belonging and exclusion. Through a diasporic menu, artistic collaboration, and shared conversation, the gathering interrogates the settler colonial mythology embedded in Thanksgiving while exploring displacement, identity, and hospitality through the act of eating together.
